For every small boss who ever changed their own mind — and the little ones who cheer them on.

A basket of fresh greens sat by the burrow door, dew still sparkling on the leaves. Pip wrinkled his nose. 'Green food is slimy and yucky—and I should know, because I tried it ONCE!' he announced from his tree-stump throne. 'No green food—EVER!' Fern clapped her paws and chanted, 'Whatever Pip says, the warren does!' But she glanced at her clover necklace, wishing—just once—she could nibble it instead of wear it.
At dinnertime, clover and lettuce sat pushed to the edges of every bowl. Fern grinned and whispered the refrain again: 'Whatever Pip says, the warren does!' Granny Bramble raised one eyebrow but kept humming over her stew. Pip beamed—Burrow Boss business was going wonderfully. Then a scout burst through the door, ears flying. 'Pip! Come quick!'
Just past the burrow door, something orange glowed in the dirt. Pip's nose twitched. His eyes went wide. 'TREASURE!' he shouted, loud enough to rustle the meadow grass. Little green leaves poked up beside the glow—but Pip wasn't looking down there. He was already digging.
'Grand Digging Mission!' Pip declared, paws on hips. 'Whatever Pip says, the warren does!' cheered Fern, grabbing a stick-shovel. The whole warren dug together, dirt flying every which way. Nobody noticed the leafy green tops poking from each orange treasure—nobody except Granny Bramble, who only hummed a little louder.
Paws flew. Dirt sprayed. Tiny tunnels crisscrossed the meadow all afternoon. Ears drooped. Tummies rumbled. 'Can we stop for a snack?' someone squeaked. 'Bosses don't get tired!' Pip announced—just as his own stomach growled loudest of all.
By evening, a glittering orange heap filled the kitchen. Pip stacked it proudly, calling it riches. Fern reached to nibble one. 'STOP!' Pip cried. 'That's TREASURE, not food!' The warren froze, confused, stomachs growling louder than ever.
Hungry bunnies sighed, staring at treasure they couldn't eat and green food they weren't allowed to touch. Granny Bramble asked gently, 'What if the treasure is food, dear?' Pip crossed his arms. 'Impossible. I'm the Boss. I would know.' Right on cue, his tummy growled again.
Alone that night, Pip decided a true Boss must inspect his treasure closely. He lifted the biggest one, turning it this way and that. Before he even meant to—crunch. His eyes popped wide. It was sweet. It was crisp. It was... delicious.
Pip froze, crumbs on his whiskers. His forbidden rule and his amazing treasure were the very same vegetable! For one long moment, Burrow Boss Pip had nothing to say. Then he grinned, climbed the pile, and opened his mouth wide.
'ATTENTION, WARREN!' Pip boomed, holding his half-eaten treasure high. 'I hereby declare THIS the finest treasure in the whole burrow—and treasure is for EATING!' Granny Bramble chuckled. 'That's a carrot, dear.' 'Whatever it's called, we're eating it!' Pip declared. Fern gasped with joy. 'Whatever Pip says, the warren does!' she cheered. Every bunny grabbed one and took a bite. Then another. Then another.
Crunching filled the kitchen, orange bits everywhere. Even Granny Bramble smiled over her carrot stew. Pip, cheeks full, declared it his very best decree yet. One by one, full and happy, the whole warren settled into a warm round pile as the meadow moon rose outside.
Curled together in the soft burrow dark, Fern drifted off mid-chant, murmuring 'Whatever Pip says...' against his side. Pip, crown askew, one last carrot crumb on his nose, closed his eyes with a small, happy smile. Tonight, just a sleepy little rabbit.
