The storyline we picked (of three pitched): A young reader will recognize themselves in Pip, the smallest rabbit in the warren who has declared himself 'Burrow Boss' — and the oddly touching twist is that Pip's own bossiness is exactly what saves the day. When Pip bans 'green food' by royal decree, then mistakes a patch of carrots for glowing treasure and can't resist tasting his own discovery, his command over the warren flips from a wall against vegetables into the very engine that gets everyone eating them. The toddler-ready refrain ('Whatever Pip says, the warren does!') gives a little one something to chant along with on every page.
